Eevee (Japanese: イーブイ Eievui) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

It evolves into one of eight different Pokémon through various methods:

  • Eevee evolves into Vaporeon when exposed to a Water Stone.
  • Eevee evolves into Jolteon when exposed to a Thunder Stone.
  • Eevee evolves into Flareon when exposed to a Burn Stone.
  • Eevee evolves into Espeon when leveled upward with high friendship during the daytime (Generation 2 onward, except for Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen), except in areas with a Moss Rock or Water ice Rock or while knowing a Fairy-type move.
    • It also evolves into Espeon when leveled up with loftier friendship with a Dominicus Shard in the Pocketbook (in Pokémon XD).
  • Eevee evolves into Umbreon when leveled up with loftier friendship during the dark (Generation II onward, except for Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen), except in areas with a Moss Stone or Ice Rock or while knowing a Fairy-type motility.

  • Eevee's English proper noun is a palindrome.
    • Eevee's English name also contains but two unique characters, less than any other Pokémon's English language proper name.
  • Eevee was designed by Motofumi Fujiwara.[2]
  • Eevee has the most branched evolutions, with a total of eight.
  • Eevee bears many distinguishing characteristics because of its evolved forms:
    • Eevee has the nigh evolved forms of any Pokémon and is the just Pokémon that has more iii evolved forms.
    • The fan-made term to describe the evolutions of Eevee, Eeveelutions, was made official after its use in the strategy guide for Pokémon Stadium ii, followed by a TCG Theme Deck.
  • In early on English language promotional cloth for Pokémon Red and Bluish, Eevee was chosen "Eon", the suffix of all of the evolved forms of Eevee.
  • In Generation I, Eevee is the only Pokémon to have a branched evolution.

Origin

In the 2018 artbook, EVs, Motofumi Fujiwara revealed that Eevee was inspired past vague babyhood memories of an unknown beast he encountered in the woods. Though it wasn't based on whatever distinct beast, Fujiwara mentioned that Eevee reminded him of a fluffy true cat or dog-like brute.[3]
